For most of my life, I was never a ‘nature girl.’  I was born on a tobacco farm in the east, moved to a city when I was three, and didn’t really go outside very much — when I did, I don’t think I really enjoyed myself, or even noticed nature.  We didn’t go on many holidays, but when we did, we went to the mountains for a few days.  When we were there, I just remember being in the cabin or walking down mainstreet in the town.  I don’t remember much of the “nature” part of the trip.

Now I live in the mountains, and I’m paying attention.  Not only do I live in the mountains, but I live in a tourist town (see my blog, Life In A Tourist Town).  I have only just begun to appreciate the amazing natural world we live in — being with someone who was born in this area really helps.  I realize that I have a fear of nature — of the elements, of the animals, of the bugs (ticks that burrow under the skin), of the steep mountainous terrain (many people have died in this area from falls).

Yet, even with the fear, I can now ‘feel’ the natural world around me, and I am really amazed at how much more I am appreciating our lovely planet.

I don’t know about you…but I WANT clean water for my children and grandchildren, and with the self-love, self-care component of Divine Parenting, I especially want it for myself.  I want an abundance of food to eat, especially natural (non-GMO) and non-toxic.  I want clean, fresh air to breathe…and on, and on, and on.

So, if I want that, I want to make sure that I help to meet the planet’s needs — to see what Mother Earth and all her species on the planet need to survive, including humans, and be a part of the movement to make sure those needs get met.

How about you?
